HEALTH SERVICES

Tunisia has achieved indeed noticeable performances during the last ten years with regard to medical tourism and has come second as an African destination thanks to the well known quality of the Tunisian health system as a whole.

It relies on a great number of well trained physicians, on hospitals and clinics similar most of them to European countries ones, on services provided to patients particularly competitive in various fields such as aesthetic surgery or even treatment of some heavy pathologies.

Tunisia has welcomed in 2007 no less than 102.000 foreign visitors seeking medical cares in the fields of aesthetic surgery, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, heart surgery and dialysis.
Even though 80% of foreign patients come from North African and sub-Saharan African countries, the weight of Europeans patients is still significant as it has reached 11% of the total and is growing more and more every year.

This has enabled Tunisian private clinics which are numbering 104 units, to make one fourth of their sales amounting to 320 millions Tunisian Dinars with foreign patients, that is about 4% of total Tunisian services exports.
