Equipments

The Tunisian government has set up a health policy which emphasizes infrastructures development through:
- Upgrading of health care establishments thanks to programs designed to provide them with adequate equipments in order to let them reach international standards.

- Allocation to hospital network of state of the art medical equipments in order to enable it to widen the range of its operations and to get to more and more sophisticated technics (micro-surgery, transplants …).

- Granting to private sector of several facilities and tax incentives (TVA rate lowering, custom duties exemptions) in order to let it acquire up to date equipments and to modernize itself.

For the year 2007, Tunisian imports in the following segments are estimated to amount to around 70 millions Tunisian Dinars:

- Breathing devices.
- Medical furniture.
- X-ray treatment.
- Orthopaedy and prosthesises.
- Medical instruments and devices

The main supplying countries being Germany, France, USA, Italy and Japan.

- Medical material: surgery blocks, reanimation, anaesthesia, surgery, dental and ophthalmologic material, medical imaging, investigation material, single use material, orthopaedic material, sterilization, disinfection …

- Laboratory equipments and products.

- Lodging equipments.

- Emergency equipments and material.
